PABLO CRUISE; ‘It’s Good To Be Live’ Released on Red Red Records‏

Red Red Records has released the first new recordings from 70s California pop pioneers Pablo Cruise in over 25 years. The CD/DVD greatest hits set titled It’s Good to be Live features a 2010 live show recorded at a concert in Northern California by the three original founding members of the band: David Jenkins (guitar/vocals), Corey Lerios (keys/vocals) and Steve Price (drums), along with Larry Antonino (Jeff Beck, Air Supply, Kenny Loggins) on bass/vocals (original Pablo Cruise bass player Bud Cockrell passed away in 2010). It’s Good to be Live is available now both digitally and physically on Red Red Records (distributed by BDG/Red Distribution) through a partnership between Red Red and Pablo Cruise.

The CD version of It’s Good To Be Live features 17-tracks, more than 80 minutes of music, including all of the band’s classic hits such as “Love Will Find A Way,” “What’cha Gonna Do?,” “Cool Love,” “A Place in the Sun” and “Don’t Want To Live Without It.” The CD album also includes two bonus, CD-only, new studio recordings of the band’s classic songs “A Place In The Sun” and “Love Will Find A Way,” featuring vocalists Katrina and Ty Taylor of “Vintage Trouble”.

“A Place In The Sun,” was re-recorded by Pablo Cruise featuring the vocals of Red Red Records recording artist Katrina. Katrina’s debut CD, In The Blink Of An Eye, was released earlier this year with two singles (“Shame On Me” and “OPM”) reaching the Top 25 on the charts. Ty Taylor is featured on Pablo’s remake of “Love Will Find A Way.” Taylor and his band Vintage Trouble spent the summer in Europe supporting Bon Jovi, playing to rave reviews and sold out crowds.

The two new studio re-recordings were co-produced by Jenkins, Lerios and Grammy Award-winning producer Val Garay. Garay is known for his notable long-time production and engineering work with Pablo Cruise, as well as The Motels, James Taylor, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Brown and Kim Carnes (“Bette Davis Eyes” Grammy winner for Record of the Year 1982).

The accompanying DVD, shot during a 2010 concert in Northern California, features the entire 17-song live performance, including a version of “El Verano” available only on the DVD, and behind-the-scenes interview footage with members of the band.

Formed during the mid-70s in Northern California, Pablo Cruise signed to the legendary A&M Records label and in 1975 released their self-titled debut. Over the next decade the band toured the United States, Canada and Japan extensively, welcoming fans to “Climb Aboard The Good Ship Pablo Cruise.” Reaching the top 10 with mega hits like “Watch Gonna Do When She Says Goodbye” and “Love Will Find A Way,” and several other radio hits, the band went on to sell millions albums and singles establishing themselves as well-respected writers and performers.

The band appeared on numerous television shows, including Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, The Merv Griffin Show and in 1979 broke Elvis Presley’s attendance record at The Sahara Tahoe in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, becoming the first rock band to play a casino showroom. They also became the first rock band to grace the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. By 1986, after releasing seven albums, the band called it a day and decided to take a hiatus. A hiatus that has lasted nearly 20 years…

In 2008 the Pablo Cruise logo created quite a stir in the media when Will Farrell wore a classic Pablo Cruise baseball jersey in the classic comedy “Step Brothers.” The band was invited to the film premieres and even performed at them. The fact that Pablo Cruise took 20 years to decide whether they wanted to work together again may be the best thing that ever happened to them. The guys are approaching this like it’s the first time they’ve ever played together. The point being is that this reunion is generating a lot of excitement within the quartet, and the beauty of it is, is that its coming from “the guy in the middle”… PABLO CRUISE.
